Nefesh Mountain Band Concert

The Nefesh Mountain Band has been bringing their famously inspirational, dynamic, musically diverse, and soul filled live performances to audiences around the world for the past 10 years. The band, declared “A Powerhouse Unit” by Rolling Stone and "Introspective lyrics and world class musicianship” by American Songwriter, bridges compositional prowess and prolific songwriting with deft instrumentals and jams.

At the helm are founders and husband and wife team Doni Zasloff (vocals) & Eric Lindberg (vocals, guitars, banjo) who tour with an ever evolving cast of amazing musicians on violin, mandolin, keyboards, bass, and drums, playing songs from their own iconic catalog as well as their own unique interpretations of covers and material from the greater American songbook as well. The Nefesh Mountain Band have created a world and sound all their own; blurring the lines between Americana, Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz and Blues with a masterful hand as songwriters, instrumentalists and composers alike.

Zasloff and Eric Lindberg have been proudly open and vocal about their background and heritage as Jewish Americans since they formed the group nearly a decade ago, and are among the first preeminent Americana/Bluegrass musicians to infuse Jewish culture into the beautifully diverse tapestry of American roots music. For them the music is wholly American, freely expressing their own identities while at the same time firmly standing against hate, discrimination and intolerance of all forms including anti-semitism which has seen an unprecedented rise in recent years. The Troubadours along with their band continue to forge new paths in unknown territory, armed with Zasloff and Lindberg’s strong, smokey, and folksy vocals and Lindberg’s soulful and masterful skills on acoustic and electric guitars and banjo.

The Nefesh Mountain Band Concert is 90 minutes on average.

Nefesh Mountain
Kabbalat Shabbat Experience

In addition to their concerts and performances at festivals, performing arts centers, and other various secular music venues, Doni, Eric and the band have long been bringing their Shabbat Experience to Jewish Communities throughout the world. The Nefesh Mountain Shabbat Experience bridges the musicality and dynamic nature of their usual concerts with the spiritual framework and soul of the Kabbalat Shabbat service, celebrating our beloved traditions alongside the timeless sound of guitars, fiddles, banjos and greater Appalachia. Through the years Zasloff and Lindberg have written numerous songs and prayers that they work into the Friday Night Service including Brothers & Sisters (Hine Ma Tov), Come My Beloved (Lecha Dodi), Red Sea Medley (Mi Chamocha), I Want To Hear Somebody Pray (Barchu), The Sh’ma, Tree Of Life (Mi Sheberach), On And On (L’dor Vador), Evermore (Hashkiveinu), and Oseh Shalom among other spirituals, psalms, and originals.

Through the years the band has played hundreds of services, each time having the chance to collaborate with local clergy to make each one completely unique to the specific place and time that it’s in. From the start, their aim has been to view the Kabbalat Shabbat as a spiritual and fluid experience with the hope that their music and lyrics can add to the already powerful and transformative nature of Shabbat.

The Kabbalat Shabbat Experience aims to be from around 75-90 minutes.

Nefesh Mountain Workshop

For Doni, Eric, and the band one of the thrills of touring has been conducting and leading workshops where they share their own personal journey, the stories behind their songs, and how being outwardly Jewish in the secular musical world has shaped and informed their own lives. The duo share and discuss their mission to bring Jewish culture further into the limelight and fabric of Americana music, and talk about both the ups and downs of their own journey as outliers and as openly Jewish musicians. Along these lines, Doni and Eric hope to lead a conversation in their workshops about what it is and means in to be Jewish, American, and Human in todays world, especially as we face and emotionally combat the current rise in hate and antisemitism. For the duo and band, while some of the workshop aims at exploring some of these difficult subjects, they ultimately hope to instill hope and pride through their own story and music which they will of course share and play as well.

Workshop times can vary from 60 - 90 minutes.

Nefesh Mountain
Duo concert

During the months of Covid-19, Doni and Eric hunkered down in their home performing dozens and dozens of zoom concerts and live streams and for the first ten weeks performed weekly concerts on social media called “Songs Of Love And Healing” to thousands of fans. For the pair this was a unique opportunity to arrange their songs and choice covers in a special duo setting, and in the months and years since they have loved bringing this unique performance to the stage!

The intimate duo concert features the husband and wife team as they share songs and the stories behind them from their own repertoire and albums, as well as choice covers as well.

The Duo performance is about 60 - 75 minutes

Nefesh Mountain
kids & Family programs

Since their start, Nefesh Mountain has had a goal of bringing their music, songs, and overall message to all audiences, and in addition to their concerts, services and workshops have a variety of shows specifically designed for kids and families as well. From Hebrew School Appearances, to tot-Shabbats, to full band Family Concerts, they have loved sharing the magic of Bluegrass and Americans music with kids all over the US and abroad. In these special shows they simultaneously share their love of Jewish Heritage and Tradition while also introducing kids to the beautiful sounds of the Banjo, Fiddle, Mandolin, and Guitar.

Programs times may vary depending on what is needed for the event, but Doni and Eric are happy to work with you and your community to make sure the kids and families get to experience possible.
