COMBATING ANTISEMITISM; A MUSICAL WORKSHOP WITH NEFESH MOUNTAIN
“Combating Antisemitism, Being Outwardly Jewish in the Americana world, and Embracing Jewish Joy Through Music”
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Doni and Eric of Nefesh Mountain have created a musical workshop to open the conversation for honest discussion about antisemitism ion these difficult times. They will share their own experiences as outwardly Jewish musicians in the Americana world, and will create a safe space to share feelings in these times riddled with so much hate against Jews. While some of the workshop aims at exploring some of these difficult subjects, they ultimately hope to instill pride and Jewish joy through their own story and through sharing their music; bringing a sense of community and love to the group.

BIO - NEFESH MOUNTAIN
The Nefesh Mountain Band has been bringing their famously inspirational, dynamic, musically diverse, and soul filled live performances to audiences around the world for the past 10 years. They have played thousands of shows, throughout the country and world. They have played all over the US, Israel, Australia, Canada and are heading to Hong Kong this year. They had their debut at The Grand Ole Opry, a recent PBS Special "Live at Levon Helm Studio" aired this past December. Their music has been played on NPR, XM RADIO, and their songs have hit the Billboard Top 10. The band, declared “A Powerhouse Unit” by Rolling Stone and "Introspective lyrics and world class musicianship” by American Songwriter, and The Times of Israel said " Nefesh Mountain turns Swords into Plowshares." The band currently is the focus of a Documentary Film which is in production now entitled, "We Sing Nonetheless" produced by Emmy Award winning filmmakers Upstander Project.
At the helm are founders and husband and wife team Doni Zasloff (vocals) & Eric Lindberg (vocals, guitars, banjo) who have been proudly open and vocal about their background and heritage as Jewish Americans since they formed the group nearly a decade ago, and are among the first preeminent Americana/Bluegrass musicians to infuse Jewish culture into the beautifully diverse tapestry of American roots music. For them the music is wholly American, freely expressing their own identities while at the same time firmly standing against hate, discrimination and intolerance of all forms including anti-semitism which has seen an unprecedented rise in recent years.
